All 4 of my children had a good experience at Wheatley high school. strong academics, good family feel to school.
Overall Experience 2014-03-01
High school was fun but I really can't wait to get to college.
Overall Experience 2013-06-01
Absolutely fantastic. I love everything about Wheatley from my friends to the the teachers! It's a very small school so it's a well knit community.
All the teachers in the school are incredibly knowledgable and engaging and have many years of teaching experience.
teacher for the most part are excellent, there is an occaisional poor teachers but they are few and far between.
All the teachers are very good. They are always available for extra help
the school has a very high level of academics, many ap classes, college level courses are also offered.
Wheatley offers a program called "School within a School". It is a democratic school system consisting of 10-12 grade. It fulfills the English and Social Science requirements. The program offers a greater flexibility in course work. The students have freedom to chose classes. The classes are mixed age. Some classes are taught by students. The students must grade themselves on their performance. In addition to this program Wheatley offers many AP classes.
Overall Experience 2016-07-01
I would choose to attend Wheatley again because of all the experiences with my peers, teachers, and school actives that allowed me to grow and develop into the person that I am.

The atmosphere at school is simultaneously competitive yet collaborative. The students care about each other but are ambitious and individual. Ultimately, there's a very caring environment, and the small student population creates a sense of family.
Overall Experience 2014-11-01
This school has provided me the tools to be successful for the rest of my life.
Overall Experience 2014-08-01
Being a student at Wheatley has been an amazing experience. Because of its small size, each and every Wheatley student is able to connect on a personal level with most, or all, of their teachers and peers.
There are a good amount of academic opportunities for students
The academics are pretty good there.
There are a huge range of core curriculum courses offered ranging from students who need a lot of help to advanced AP courses. There are also many art and music classes and a variety of other electives.
There are many options for students for academics, arts, and music.

Overall, the teachers and students are very nice in the school and helpful
Student Culture & Diversity 2013-06-01
It's diverse but not extremely. Yet we do have inter cultural clubs and respect all people
The teachers are very good at this school. You will definitely learn.
Most teachers in our school are very effective at teaching students what they need to know. Some may go above and beyond what the curriculum tells them to do simply for the purposes of making students smarter. There may be some teachers who do slack off a bit but the majority do what they have to for the betterment of the students.
Overall, the teachers are school are willing to meet students outside of class to help them with the coursework. They are approachable and genuinely care about the students' well-being.
Many teachers respond quickly to emails and some even give out their phone numbers for easier and faster communication with their students.
Overall Experience 2013-03-01
I really enjoyed my school because it is small and I formed relationships with my teachers that I never would have done in a bigger school. I also feel that the quality of the education is very high. When it comes down to it, I would definitely attend again. I was surrounded by an ultimately positive environment during a very tumultuous time in my life.
Student Culture & Diversity 2014-03-01
Most people are very nice to each other and are accepting of all people's diversity
Student Culture & Diversity 2014-01-01
It is a small wealthy school with little ethnic diversity
Overall Experience 2013-12-01
It's a little too much for me to handle with all the upper class people.
Overall Experience 2013-10-01
Many of the students at this school act the same. There are either the rich and snobby students, and then there are everyone else.
Overall Experience 2014-03-01
A lot of the teachers are extremely lazy and just want to make the most amount of money possible. A handful of teachers are very good, and the rest are bad.
Some teachers are amazing, but some show up to class very late and only show movies.
Some are better than others.
A good mix of younger and older teachers. The science department is the best department by far. A few teachers seem to hate their jobs but for the most part the others enjoy teaching. Many teachers are very casual with the students.
We have a good variety of classes offered in our school.
Wheatley is a small school so there isn't all that much variety in the classes offered. If on the AP track, students are generally stuck in class with the same people all day with about the only choice to make is whether to take AP Bio or AP Chem their junior year. Some classes are complete jokes (even AP) while others have more work than they're worth (SWS English & certain electives). For the most part, how much you learn will depend on your diligence and your teacher's effort in teaching the class. A's and B's generally come pretty easily.

While I do agree that our school is very strong academically and athletically, to me it is not a school that I've had the most pleasant time in. I feel that certain decisions are made in a very biased manner. In other words, I feel teachers and parents have way too much authority about how the school is run. I understand that they have more experience and know how exactly a kid should be raised, but it doesn't change the fact that they do make certain things very inconvenient for us students. As students I feel like we should have some say in how the school is run rather than handing all the authority over to staff and parents. I feel that if some of the more trivial matters were decided upon by students then overall satisfaction in attending this school would increase.
